Advantages: Nothing...Literately nothing.

Disadvantages: Everything! Pig ignorant cabin crew, no leg room, faulty equipment, broken seats...

I took a flight with Qatar Airlines in early 2008 to Bangkok via Doha, and to put it bluntly, was the worst long haul flight I ever took!

Qatar is supposedly a five star airline. This is something I find perplexing as my experiences on the two flights I was unfortunate enough to take with them was less than five star!

The staff at the check-in desk at London Gatwick airport were very friendly and my first impressions were rather good.

That was until I boraded the aircraft and went to take my seat. I must say that on both flights I took, the first to Doha then the on the connecting flight to Bangkok, I felt like a sardine. It must be one of the worst airlines for leg room.
And to make matters worse my seat wouldn't recline fully and had a very uncomfortable 'bump' towards the bottom that dug into my back. Obviously someone had become frustrated with the rude air hostess on a previous flight and kicked the seat from behind in sheer frustration!
The cabin crew were pig ignorant from start to finish on both flights. I had to ask them several times for water and each time I asked I got the feeling I was an unwelcome guest! (Maybe they share there cabin crew with RyanAir!?)
The final straw was the inflight entertainment, or lack of! The screens were broken on both flights, so only a few people got the privilidge. And no one apologised for this, not a word. Just incredibly rude cabin crew who rolled there eyes because I dare to ask them for a water because I had a terrible headcahe by that point!

The transit point, Doha airport, is a poor airport, not even a bar where I could drown my sorrows and numb myself in preparation for the connecting flight to Bangkok! Luickily the transit time was quick and I only spent half an hour there before boarding the next flight begun.

All in all it was a terrible experience and Qatar are a terrible airline with virtually no good points to take from the experience. The flights aren't all that cheap either, and with new super-cheap budget airlines to compete with now I can't really see them surviving in the long term. You pay average prices for a very poor substandrad service.

1/5. Avoid them at all costs.

Summary: Worst Airline i've ever flown with. I'd rather swim to Asia than fly with them again.

I was surprised too, but i've heard they treat there cabin crew very poorly and if you google 'qatar awful staff' or something along those lines you'll find plenty of complaints online...They are zero for customer service. Really awful airline...Get valium from the doctor if you are flying with them, you'll need it!
