My mother and I were the second people to check in at Heathrow and requested seats together (after being told we could not pre-book them) however when we went to board we noticed we were at the other end of the plane from each other. The staff said there was nothing they could do, however we pointed out that as we were second to check in there was no reason why they could not have sat us together, luckily thy asked another passenger to move which they were happy to do, as I am a nervous flyer at the best of times!
This was the only glitch we had. The staff on board were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of TV programmes and films to watch. The food was good and I was impressed there was a choice of food and staff were happy to bring you drinks at any time. We had no delays on any of our flights. After research Qatar airways was the best value, although there were cheaper options when we took into account the length of the other stop overs and worse reviews for other airlines we decided on Qatar airways and we were not disappointed.
I know comments of Doha airport have generally been that it is poor but I was very impressed with it, this may have been more to do with the fact that when I had a stop-over in Doha in 1999 it was little more than one duty free shop and toilets that were a hole in the ground! We were there for just under 5 hours on the way out but they still ket us have the complimentry food, which although was very basic it was welcome after a long flight and stopover. They also had quiet, darkish rooms to relax in and free internet access.
Would definitely fly with them again.
