Advantages: Cheap, no-frills transport.

Disadvantages: Rude cabin crew.

Ryanair, the famous Irish low fares airline, continues to cause controversy with its in-your-face attitude to aviation and the antics of its plucky CEO Michael O'Leary. Ryanair often make claims about their flight prices being the cheapest around, and they just might be right.

The flying experience on one of Ryanair's brand new Boeing 737s is far from luxurious, but it does the job. Dispensing of pleasantries such as in-flight magazines, safety instruction cards and well-mannered flight attendants, Ryanair keep the costs down and pass the savings on to the public.

Now, like anyone, I find it a bit insulting to be shouted at over the PA system by a barely-understandable scouse twenty-something. On a recent flight from Oslo, Norway the cabin was treated to several rather rude and impatient announcements as the cabin crew tried to blame the passengers for a backlog caused by a lack of ground staff at the airport.

However, after paying such low fares, I find it difficult to be disappointed. If you do as the airline wishes, i.e. book online, don't take hold baggage and check in on-line, the fares can be simply brilliant. £20 return from Manchester to Dublin. You can't go wrong.

I wouldn't hesitate to use Ryanair again, even if they do make Easyjet look like Air Force One. I liken the flying experience to getting on a bus. No-one likes it, but you need to get where you want to go.

NOTE: The above review is irrelevant to most airline passengers. Here is the stuff that really matters:

On-time: YES
Legroom: PLENTY
Fares: LOW

Summary: Ryanair is by no means a luxury carrier, but it gets you from A to B.

I've used Ryanair a few times and it is just like boarding a bus and cheap too. For short flights it is ideal. I always get the online offers, an example being a return flight to Dublin for 9p! plus duty. Making it cheaper than a bus!

I say fairplay to the cheapo airlines. We know its a tight overhead so why do we moan so much.
