Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Poor service

Cheap and sometimes cheerful seems to be the Ryanair motto and if you are looking for cheap flights with no thrills then Ryanair are a good choice however if you wat great service and some comfort then they are not for you and you will have to pay for it.

We have used them a couple of times and always book using the website which once you get used to it is pretty easy o navigate. Their prices are great and usually the more in advance you book the cheaper the flights, we picked up weekend flights to Dublin recently at £35 return including taxes which was a great deal and I have used them to get to Rome before for about a similar price per person.

They fly from a number of UK airports with Stanstead being the most popular but you do have to check on the arrival airport as one of the ways they keep costs down is to fly to maller regional airports, for example Rome will see you land at Campiano and then hae to pay fifteen euro for a transfer into the centre of the city. Some are even further out and you may have a one hour coach trip ahead of you after you land which is not included in the flight.

It is a low cost airline so you will pay for any food and also now to put any luggage in the hold. It is well worth reading the terms and conditions before booking as it is costly to make any changes and they are not known for their customer service.

Both times that we have flown the planes have been on time and while you are herded on and off with no option to pre book seats they do the job and the fact that they are cheap makes them worth looking at.

Summary: Cheap low cost airline.
