Ryanair is like marmite you either love it or hate it!
Having had my first experience of Ryanair this week I can truly say that I love it!
Why? Well they will not win many awards for inflight service or comfort but if you are looking for value for money travel then Ryanair must surely be the bargain among the budget airlines.
The secret to gaining the most from your experience is to approach your travel with the mindset of a budget traveller. Too many people expect first class service for a third class price. It's not to say that Ryanair are always the cheapest and I can see why you would be dissapointed if spending a considerable sum of money on a flight. But if you keep the costs down and get yourself a fantastic fare then I see no reason with how you can feel anything but amazed at how far you can go for so little.
I flew to Dusseldorf Weeze last Tuesday. It was just for the day and for business. I managed to get the whole flight tax free and pay just a penny each way! The method of navigating around Ryanair add ons was to take the maximum dimensions of hand luggage, check in online, and pay by Visa Electron. In fact the cabin case I took could have easily contained a long weekends worth of clothing. I could roll up at the airport a little later than I would usually as I did not need airport check in. While at my destination and on the return I was from plane to car in just 10 minutes! No waiting at the conveyer belt in luggage reclaim!
The only negative of the day was the hour delay on the outward journey. This was due to snow at Weeze which would have affected even the most executive of airlines. However I was kept well informed of the situation by Ryanair staff and we were quickly embarking the plane on it's arrival.
I have now booked several more trips with Ryanair the highest price being £5 return inc taxes! So providing I keep the mindset of a budget traveller I cannot foresee being too disapointed!

Summary: Think like a budget traveller, get a good price, avoid the add ons and enjoy the ride!
