Advantages: Dirt cheap

Disadvantages: If you get sat next to a complaining scrooge

Ryanair is dirt cheap, so I don't understand why some people still expect A class services. You get what you pay for- a passage from A to B, but not much else.

I use Ryanair about twice a month, and only for short haul journeys. In my experience, only one of my flights has been cancelled, when I was trying out a new airport. It is true that the planes smell odd and aren't the most comfortable, but when you pay £2.50 plus taxes for a flight, are you really in a position to complain?

It is difficult to sympathise with people when they complain about the price of the food and drinks- Ryanair is still a company, and still needs to make money, and if you buy a dirt cheap flight, then they will have to get their money from somewhere, so expect the food to be more than twice the price of Sainsbury's, and the drinks to be 5 euros per can. You can hardly blame them for actually wanting to be able to pay their employees.

I travel a lot by myself, and if you nab a seat with another single person, then you get three seats between two people, and so increases the comfort of the journey, as the seats are a little cramped. My advice is to avoid the first rush, and get on about half way through. This is when the busybodies and families have already settled in, but before the people who are used to Ryanair get on. Try to aim for a person who looks tired- they will not want someone to share the third seat with, and so will help by giving a prospective sitter dirty looks when they ask if the middle seat is free. If there are no single people in a group of three seats left, aviod at all costs the middle aged British holiday maker- they will try to engage you in conversation throughout the flight, and you will then need to buy one of the overpriced drinks to compensate for their endless nattering.

Overall I like Ryanair. They offer cheap flights and I would use them a lot for short haul flights, but not for long haul, I would reach further into my pocket for them.

Summary: Very good for short haul

Some useful advice about the seating situation. I have not personally used Ryanair although my wife has several times when visiting her sister & had nothing to grumble about especially with return flights to Germany for around £25. No wonder they want to start charging a pound for a pee. Good review.

I/m not sure Tom's advice is that useful. Ryanair fly to and from so many airports you couldn't list them all.

Not all their flights are dirt cheap, as you describe them. We can't get anything less than 89 Euro to come home from Graz in September. And we usually pay around 20 Euro.

A good review but you may want to include things like, the models of planes they use, what their prices range from and to, how full the flights usually are as your such a frequent flyer and also which airports ryanair use.
