Advantages: Cheap, on time, safe and friendly.

Disadvantages: Hidden costs, strict baggage policy. It is a budget airline.

You get what you pay for, and with Ryanair you get a lot more.

Budget airlines offer budget service for a reason (so we can have cheap flights). So if you are to fly with Ryanair you must have this in mind. Personally from an airline I want safty, on time service and polite staff. I also realise that if I fly with budget air lines I can not get annoyed at the stag dos and loutish people who are seeking cheap thrills. It is for this reasoning that I highly recommend Ryanair.

Problems of cource come from people who expect BA service without wanting to pay for it. You will have to buy your own food (which isn't very nice) and you will have to sit where there is a spare seat. However if you are sensible then you can pack food (or even buy it at the airport) to take on board with you, and if there is a reason why you need particular seats (ie. you have a baby, disabled or very long legs) then certain seats are set aside for you if you inform the air line in advance.

One problem with Ryanair is the tricky (almost) dishonest website. Do not be conned by the prices 1 pound fairs will probably not display the taxes or booking charge and will be for hand luggage only. Once you have added all of these costs up, which sometimes aren't displayed till the last moment you will find the Ryanair is on average the same as most budget airlines (Easy Jet, BMI baby etc). Another problem is that they are annoyingly strict about the one bag policy for hand luggage this includes medication, handbags, duty free (airport) shopping. They are also strict on the maximum allownece and as you can proceed all the way up to the gate before weighing the bag you must make sure that you are under, unless you don't mind your overweight belongings being thrown away or being charged for them.

They are however usually on time and do offer a good budget service.
I will continue to fly with them.

Summary: You really do get what you pay for. Noone will accuse Ryanair staff of going out of their way.

I wouldn't say they are dishonest - I think we all know Ryanair's pricing policy by now
