Advantages: Cheap, Efficient, Quick, Easy

Disadvantages: Rumours, Service (Apart From Speed)

Ryanair is a cheap and cheerful airline, even though many people have little stories about them. There was once a dispatches program about them on channel 4. Nothing was too bad but there were a few things I picked up on. When you would sit in seat 1A, you were bound to die if there was a crash or accident, as a metal bar would go through your head. The staffs had little training and were rude. The planes were never cleaned very well. Despite this program and all these rumors, Ryanair is one of the most successful and fastest growing airlines.

Ryanair have a large number of Boeing 737-800s, which are the newest of this series. The planes are reliable and safe but you obviously rely on the pilots too. From past experience, the pilots have been pretty good but some have been a bit dodgy. I was once landing and the pilot did a number of rather steep turns before touching down as if they couldn't line up. It wasn't especially windy but was at night. Their pilots seem pretty average and they haven't had any major accidents, which is good to hear.

The interior of the planes is mostly blue and yellow. There are adverts below the overhead holders right down the cabin, which makes it seem a bit cheap. The seats have no back pockets and have the safety regulations and procedures stuck onto the back of the seat, so it's in your face the whole time. These are done to reduce costs, but the newer aircrafts do actually have non-reclining leather seats, which are still quite comfortable. Ryanair will not refund you or give you a replacement ticket if you are late for the flight. They do not do connecting flights but aim to provide the quickest service, which they do rather well.

The one bonus that works for both the passengers and the airline are that everything is very quick. They will unload and load passengers very quickly with a speedy clean in-between. This saves time on the ground, meaning Ryanair can do more flights at a lower cost.

Ryanair offer very cheap flights from just £5.00, but this is excluding all the extra charges such as booking, handling fees and more for your baggage and certain types of baggage like instruments. If you book online, you can pay just £3.00 extra for priority boarding, meaning you board before the rest of the passengers. This is good if you have young kids or want to get a good seat. You must pay £4.00 if you don't book online. You can fly to places in Spain with the basic price being £33.27 excluding all the fees - this can take you to places like Seville and Valencia. For £36.26 without fees, you can go to South Tenerife, Murcia and Malaga. The prices aren't bad at all and work out to be very cheap if you book in advance. Overall, it's a good cheap airline and the service is pretty quick. However, you get the bare basics on the plane and their objective is to just get you from A to B safely, as quick as possible.
