Advantages: Initial Cost Of Flights Are Cheap

Disadvantages: Charge an arm and a leg for food on the plane, don't give you an outline of fees upfront.

I used to love flying with Ryan Air which for those people who do not know they are a budget airline company. They used to be an excellent group to fly with until they started charging for extras. I preferred it when booking the flights was much more simple.

Ryan Air offers travel to & from a lot of European destinations. I have flown with Ryan Air to France, Poland & Portugal. Each time was a different experience the last time I flew with them was earlier this year to Faro, Portugal.

Your flight may only be £19.99 but the add on expenses which you cannot get out of and they add up. Firstly you need to pay £5.00 per passenger for online check in which is obviously unavoidable and you have to pay it twice one for flying out and once for coming back so if there are three people travelling that is £30 straight away. Taxes and fees are fine as I understand you need to pay those and they all seem reasonable. If you want priority seating then it is £6.00 per passenger which is a little steep I think.

Then it comes to checking in bags and you need to pay for you luggage which is unavoidable if you are going away for seven days. It is £30.00 per 15kg suitcase per person and you can only check-in two per person. So that is £90.00 if you are flying in a group of three. I know this is standard for budget airlines to charge for luggage but I find £30 per 15kg bag a little expensive. I wouldn't mind if it was 20 kg or if I was paying that amount for a heavier suitcase allowance. I would advise you to always weigh your case before you go away because if you are 1kg over they charge you £15.00 at the airport for every kg you are over the weight limit.

The amount they charge for food on the plane is ridiculous. I purchased a bottle of water, a ham sandwich and a snickers bar and it came to £9.50!! That is just an outrageous amount to charge anyone for what I bought.

I find that they are okay to fly with but I would rather that they included all these elements in the prices shown instead of adding them on. They still are okay to fly with and the staff are always nice and helpful so I have mixed feelings about Ryan Air at the moment.

Summary: Ryan Air cheap to fly.

I havent flown with them for a few years.

I was sitting on a flight to Oslo, waiting to take off.
There was a bit of a delay.

The cabin crew came down the aisle asking if everyone was going to Oslo and the fat bloke next to me jumped up and said "I want to get to Cork".

I laughed at the time but after thinking about it for a bit it scared me.

The name is Ryanair - it's not someone's name!
