Advantages: Low price
Disadvantages: Can run out of items on the hostess trolley
I flew with Ryanair a couple of weeks ago for the first time and was somewhat sceptical about what I would experience based on reviews I had heard previously.
We flew from Stansted to Marseille and I have to say we were pleasently suprised! We only took hand luggage for a 4 day trip away so not much needed, the 10kg weight limit for hand luggage is more than enough and I didn't even use half of this weight!
The whole process was very painless from booking, we booked the flights out to Marseille for £1 each, although the flights back were somewhat more expensive, we managed the whole round trip for less than £100 including fees for the two of us. The only gripe being that you have to pay a £20 fee for paying by either credit or debit card.
The rest of the experience was easy from printing off the boarding passes to getting through the airport. With no hold luggage we were through the airport in no time at all. As soon as the gate number came up we got to it as quickly as possible to ensure we could get seats together with one of them next to a window!
The above might be a problem if you are not able to get to the airport very early and I would not want to be in the position of not being able to sit with my young childern or family.
The flight took off on time and we actually landed in Marseille early! The flight was comfortable, although the flight on the way back had nothing to buy from the hostess trolley as all stock had been sold on the previous flight! Although the flight was only an hour and 40 minutes so not the end of the world.
All in all, Ryanair has been brilliant for our first experience of flying with them and I would definately consider flying with them again!
Summary: Good no frills airline
