Sri Lankan Airlines

I've flown with Sri Lankan a number of times but I will never fly with them again after our last experience. We booked tickets from London to Colombo and Singapore a couple months before our holiday and choose Sri Lankan because they were slightly cheaper than others. A month before the holiday they cancelled one of the flights and rescheduled the remaining flights without giving us any option for a refund. The flights we were left with were horrible (9 hour layover and a long haul flight leaving at 4am) and we were forced to take extra time off work as the new flights arrived on Monday morning. I have travelled with Sri Lankan airlines on many occasions on different routes- all from Heathrow to Sri Lanka, Singapore, & Thailand. I have always found the airline to be competent and the staff friendly and well- presented. Whilst travelling the planes have always left and arrived within the stated time. The fleet of planes are quite new, and the take off and landing is so smooth. The entertainment on board consists of tv screens in the seat with the remote control located in your seat. I used this company in September 2006 to travel from heathrow to Sri Lanka and back and again to Thailand. It is is the best flight company I have flown with. The staff are all very friendly and attentive and throughout the flight reguarly ensured everyone had enough drinks. The hot flannels were very refreshing especially after travelling all day on sri lankan trains before your flight! The other part of my flight which I remember well is the food. You got a choice out of three different meals, including a vegetarian option. All the meals I had were very tasty and far better than any meal I have been given before on a flight. SriLankan Airline flight review March 2005 we flew Airbus 340 Economy - Heathrow to Male & Male to Heathrow. Superb! Smooth flights both ways. Outbound ( 9 1/2 hrs) was on the newest plane with touchscreen tv & footrests. The map showing the journey so far & flight details were helpful on a long flight! Then there is the external forward & downfacing cameras that you can watch on the tv screen! The films were good ( recent Hollywood blockbusters). The seats roomy enough & comfortable. Flew with them from London to Colombo back in March 2004 and was very impressed. They use modern aircraft, and the legroom is pretty good; all economy seats had seat-back TV screens, which are essential for long flights such as this. Entertainment was good - lots of fairly recent films - they even had views from the front of the plane looking out and from the bottom of the plane looking down so you can see where you're flying over even if you don't have a window seat.
