Okay if you are on a thomson plane.. (Thomsonfly)

Advantages: roomy planes with thomson

Disadvantages: First choice planes very small

We booked a weeks holiday to Lanzarote with Thomson leaving 30th April 2009. We were a bit worried about flying with them since i have read some bad reviews.

Our flight out:

Departure: Birmingham airport 7.05a.m
I was very pleasantly surprised at how quickly we were boarded on the plane and we even left early which was fantastic.
The plane itself felt very roomy, the legroom was perfect for me although i am only 5FT6. My partner is 5FT11 and he did find it a bit of a squeeze but bearable for a 4 hour flight.
I am a size 22/24 and i was worried about space in the seats and seatbelt length but all was fine.
The cabin crew on board were all very friendly and helpful.
The only thing i wasn't impressed with was the cost of drinks and food but thats expected of an airline really.
They showed quantum of solace on the way out and charge £2.50 for headphones but if you take your own they work in the sockets so save yourself some money.

Return flight: Arreciefe airport (should of been 7.35pm)
When arriving at the airport we were told there was a 2 hour delay! (not impressed as i had surgery the next day and really needed to get home)
When we finally boarded the place it was a first choice plane! Not as roomy.. squashed, less leg room and had to ask for a seat belt extension because they were stupidly small!!
The cabin crew were rude and we had to stop for 40 minutes at Manchester airport and then take off again to Birmingham!
The flight was a complete nightmare and i wasn't very happy at all.

The Thomson planes are just fine, but if you end up on a firstchoice one then watch out because you are in for an uncomfortable flight!

We are going back to Lanzarote for 2 weeks next month so lets hope we get thomson planes both way!

Summary: Thomson need to upgrade the first choice planes if they are merging
