I recently visited the States and used TWA to travel from New York to San Francisco and back again. We booked with them because they were the cheapest by £40, however I discovered this was for a very good reason! We were meant to fly direct and were informed when we arrived at the airport that we had to change planes in St Lewis. TWA is great (199 words)

I have flown on several different air lines and I think TWA is a class above the rest. They were the first to give you more leg room in their wide body 767. We flew to Hawaii in October 1999 on the 767 in coach class and I must say it was a lot roomier than on the same fight in September 1988 on a 747. The service was great, about every 2 hours they were feeding us something, the meals were not home cooking, but they were a lot better than TV dinners. After the 8 hours of flight from St. Louis to Honolulu we were not hungry. The long flight will wear you down no matter what class you sit in. We flew from Louisville, Kentucky to St. Louis then on to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review TWA: Perfect for me. (85 words)

TWA are the perfect airline for me because they are the only ones who fly direct from Gatwick to St. Louis, which is where I usually go from/to. I have also found them to be very reasonably priced, with excellent customer service, both in and out of flight. I have never had a delay with TWA, have always arrived at my destination early or on time, and have also enjoyed the flight. The attendants are very friendly, and I would recommend them to anyone. ...  Read the complete review

I've lived in the States most of my life. Some regions are pretty much only accessable through one or two airlines, and my sister had the misfortune of living somewhere where the major airline was TWA. I do not remember a single flight (and I've used then 10+ times) that left and arrived on time with no mishap or loss of luggage. It's amazing how they manage to screw up every single time. And before you say I'm cursed let me assure you I'm certainly not the only one who can say this. They are untrustworthy. Avoid them. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review What happened to TWA? (206 words)

I remember the days when TWA and Pan Am (who?) were the only US transatlantic carriers and they were both marvellous. In fact, Pan Am was probably the world's leading airline. It used to have two round-the-world flights, Clipper One and Clipper Two, one eastbound and the other westbound and basically apart from equipemnt and crew changes, they flew continuously. When I was an Air Traffic Controller in the Gulf in the early 60s, one of the delights of night duty was this cool baritone American "Daddy is taking us flying" voice checking in as he passed - "This IS the Clipper One, Sharjah, time check please!" - he probably had a more accurate ...  Read the complete review
