Advantages: occasionally cheapest airline

Disadvantages: often late, cavalier with luggage

I've lived in the States most of my life. Some regions are pretty much only accessable through one or two airlines, and my sister had the misfortune of living somewhere where the major airline was TWA. I do not remember a single flight (and I've used then 10+ times) that left and arrived on time with no mishap or loss of luggage. It's amazing how they manage to screw up every single time. And before you say I'm cursed let me assure you I'm certainly not the only one who can say this. They are untrustworthy. Avoid them.
