I booked return flights from London to Tbilisi with a stop in Kiev in both directions. I booked the ticket with Aerosvit Airlines as it was the cheapest option and the flights between London to Kiev were both operated by Ukraine International Airlines.
Having never heard of Aerosvit or Ukraine International Airlines before, I had no idea what to expect. I was therefore pleasantly surprised when I got on board the flight and the seats weren't too cramped like on many budget airlines. I was travelling with a friend who is over 6 foot tall and he had no problem with the legroom on the flight.
The staff on the flight were very nice and on the way out, apologised profusely when despite the fact my friend had ordered a vegetarian meal, they were unable to serve him one due to a mix up somewhere. This was a bonus for me as I got 2 sandwiches which I needed as they were pretty small and I wouldn't say constituted a meal. We did get a snack as well, but I was disappointed with the amount of food which was provided. On my way home, the food was much better (we actually got a hot meal) and there was enough of it too.
Overall I was impressed with the service I received on board the flight and having booked the flight through Aerosvit, the price was very good too!
I returned from my trip to Kiev with Ukrainian Airlines a couple of weeks ago. On the way back we got stuck in Kiev for 24 hours because of bad snow in England and Gatwick being closed (our typical luck :-). I cannot praise the Ukrainian Airlines enough on how the dealt with the whole situation. Having travelled to Kiev on Wizz, which is always late and generally not great, I was very pleasantly surprised.
We travelled as a family of three with a 1.5 year old, which is challenging enough, but when we heard that there were problems at Gatwick, I was almost in tears as the idea of spending the night at the airport resembled my biggest nightmare. However, it was not too bad - we were given food and drinks vouchers enough for lunch and dinner, asked for a hotel (not expecting much), but were actually given a very nice family room at a hotel nexdoor, breakfast included. Their representative gave us a number for the helpline, which was operated 24 hrs a day, so we did not have to go to the airport next morning, until the boarding was actually announced.
The flight itself was again very pleasant - fairly comfortable seats, not too squashed, good food. We were even given a meal for my son, which they didn't have to do.
All in all a very positive experience. Would definitely recommend.
