... few months back, the wife booked us a trip to New York, flying with American Airlines. Never flown with them before and no idea if they were any good, I checked Dooyoo for reviews of them. It was not good reading. I never found a good one about them and was so worried about flying with them, that we tried to change companies to BA, but would have lost a fair amount of money. So, with great trepidation, we made our to Terminal 3 of Heathrow to begin our adventure with American Airlines. On first impressions, with check in, it was pretty good. ... used American Airlines for a recent shot break to New York flying out of Heathrow. I have to say that I expected better from a flagship airline that carries the national flag of a country where customer service within most companies is very improtant, certainly American Airlines ranks rather poorly when compared with both of the UK carriers Virgin and British Airways. Check in was fine and pretty efficient, the same cannot be said about the security checks on either side of the Atlantic but that is not really the fault of American Airlines. ... flew man-heathrow-boston and then back again in May Well, the good points are that we got there and they even managed to bring us back!!! Turbulence free flights both ways......yay Other plus points...I got the window seat and they serve full sized cans of pop. Not so good points Inflight entertainment: non of that seat back tv malarky for us, just a big screen at the front and a few above the aisles...couldn t see ours very well and the headphones didn t work, replaced the headset eventually though. Movies were Marley and me, great film but I had seen it before and knew how sad it is so couldn t watch it (not too much of a problem as couldn t really see anyway) ...
