Advantages: Comfortable Suites, and great food

Disadvantages: Amenity pack is like economy, service can vary some what.

I flew Heathrow to JFK in June 06 (late I know!) We flew Upper Class and loved every minute of it. We checked in, and as there was someone in front of us, the lady at Premium Economy checked us in, and wasn't at all friendly, I thought this doesn't bode well! Anyway we left and went to the lounge, the Heathrow lounge is AMAZING, everything you ever need from a lounge, we had our hair cut, and breakfast before our morning flight. They announced our boarding, and we took ourselves to the gate, where most of the passengers had already boarded, once on board, and settled in our suite, our flight attendant came and introduced himself, and referring to me by name, he asked if we had flown Virgin Upper Class before, and he showed us how the seat and bed worked. We were offered champers (2 glasses) before we took off, once in the air, the cabin service manager came round and introduced herself to every Upper Class passenger, which I thought was great. The service through out the flight was great, just what you expect after paying so much for the flight. Food was great and cooked to perfection. I liked the Bar area, and had a few G&T's while talking to fellow passengers and crew, even had my afternoon tea at the bar! Our return flight was nice, the lounge at JFK isn't that great it is on a mezzanne level, and you can hear everything going on at the airport, we were there at the end of the world cup, so people were watching outside, and screaming, the whole purpose of the lounge is to be peaceful and quiet. Anyway the staff were nice and friendly. Once on board, again had a champers, and took off, they came around very quickly to ask us what we were having for dinner, and what drink, I ask for a drink before dinner to be told that they are only serving drinks with dinner, for a moment I thought I was in Economy! So had to go to the bar for a drink, didn't think this was great service. Dinner was great, and filled in my card for what I wanted for breakfast, they woke me up with a bacon roll and coffee, after a great nights sleep, they did have the cabin temp up very high, but managed to sleep. Virgin's amenity packs are awful for an airline of this quality, they give you just eye mask, socks, and ear plugs again this had an economy feel to it. I loved their other amenity packs where you had the travel wallet, PLEASE bring these back. Overall a great flight, however the return flight was a little disappointing, looking forward to my next flight with Virgin Upper Class in November.

Summary: Great Suite's comfortable, and lovely food, service was very good overall.
