The Best Airline About!
~ Check In ~
I flew with Virgin Atlantic almost 2 years ago now, and i can say it is the best airline i have flown with!
On getting to Heathrow we went straight to the Virgin check in which was very easy to find as it was clearly marked with red virgin queing system tape stuff and above the check in on the tv things was the Virgin Atlantic logo on a red background.
We qued up and were a bit shocked by the que. But overall we only qued for about 15 minutes and whilst we qued Virgin staff came around, checked out passport and marked them with a Virgin Sticker.
Getting to the check in the lady was very kind and chatty which for 3 in the morning was nice. She was asking about our trip and gave us some tips about shopping! We spent all of 3 minutes at check in, and it was really easy.
~ The Aeroplane ~
Walking into the plane we were greeted by the staff and they told us where our seats were. We were at the very back of Economy (we booked our seats online, as there were no other window seats together we chose the very back) and personally i think we had the best seats in Economy! The seats had a cusion, blanket and a little travel pack which contained a pen, eye cover thing, socks, toothbrush & paste, thats all i can remember. Also a magazine with the Airlines shopping bit in & other stuff.
I believe the seat pitch was 31" and i found it fine for a 7 hour journey also legroom was fine. With our seats being at the very back of the plane we didn't have to worry about reclining and when we didn't want to use our pillow or blanket we could just place them behind our seat as there was a gap! This also came in handy as we could pop our jackets behind too. Each seat had it's own TV, with a HUGE range of movies (new & old) some wern't out in the UK yet, Music, TV shows, Games & iMap. Every class had the same entertainment (BA have less entertaiment as the classes go down which is poor) The games you could play against other people on the plane which was cool. And if you needed the toilet or something then you could simply pause what you were doing with your remote.
About 2 hours or so into the flight we got our main meal, i can't remember what we had but i remember it was nice, but then i like plane food. Drinks you can get through out the flight and they have a range of tea, coffee, coke & juice for free. Not sure if Alcohol is free though?
We also got a little snack before we landed which was an ice cream i've never got an ice cream on a plane before and it was really nice! We got a choice of 2 ice creams.
The staff were brilliant and really kind! I couldn't fault them.
~ Return Journey ~
Coming back from New York we checked in and this took less time than Heathrow. Again the lady at check in was really kind.
When we got on the plane it was pretty much the same as the one we had going out, but to our surprise we had been upgraded!!! Instead of being in Economy we were in Premium Economy. It meant our seat pitch & leg room was a little bit bigger and we got our food quicker.
The entertainment was the same except some of the movies had changed and been updated which was good and it meant i could watch another movie that wasn't out in the UK yet =P
The plane both going out & coming home was in mint condition and very clean.
The Food coming home was just as good and i remember we got a fruit bag as the snack before landing.
Getting off the plane the staff were really kind and again through out the flight they were brilliant.
Having a bad experiance to British Airways on a long haul flight, Virgin Atlantic is the only airline i would travel with now on long haul.
5*'s ... the only disadvantage is the price, they are more expensive than other airlines but worth the money with the amount of entertainment and quality!
Summary: Brilliant Long Haul Flight!
