Being a nervous flyer, the last thing I want when I arrive at the airport is a huge amount of hassle and stress. Virgin Atlantic are great for avoiding this!

Upon arrival at the airport at about 5am the queue for our flight to New York appeared to be ridiculously long, however it was merely an optical illusion due to the number of suitcases and children making the queue appear longer than it was. The staff at the check-in desk were friendly, and our check in process was quickly sorted.

Boarding the plane was stress free, as groups of people were called at a time, meaning there wasn't a huge queue to get onto the plane. As you can pick your seats online before you fly you need not worry about getting a decent seat once at the airport too.

The economy seats were ample, though for a large person you do need to go premium economy as it is a little cramped and does get a bit uncomfortable after six hours of flying. The entertainment is good, there are TVs in front of all seats with a huge number of movies to watch, along with games to play, destination information and a flight map that gives you lots of info about the flight.

The food on Virgin flights is fab! And there's LOADS of it! It seemed that as quickly as I'd finished one meal, i'd settle to watch a movie and there'd be coffee and biscuits, or a mid-flight snack appearing in front of me, one of which was ice cream which was pretty unusual! Virgin cater for most dietry requirements, and their veggie option is really good!

Virgin also supply you with a flight bag containing a blanket, socks, pens, headphones and all sorts of other exciting things to make your flight more enjoyable (and the bag comes in very handy for swimming afterwards too!)

All in all a great flying experience.
