I've flown to Washington DC 8 times in the last 5 years with VA and the only time I have been vaguely disappointed was this time - even then the problems were more with the airport than the airline.

Book in is easy now as you can do this online up to 24 hours in advance - however you still have to queue to drop you bags off and get a boarding card if you did not print this off when you checked in.

The aeroplane itself is fine - could do with a little more leg room but as I can;t afford premium seats i will have to put up with it.

As long as you get one of the newer planes the inflight entertainment is excellent - a good choice of films which you can start and stop at will. It's possible to have the flight map up which is intersting but I wish they didn;t turn it off about 30 minutes before landing - it would be great to be able to look out the window and know roughly what you are flying over !!!

The food on the UK / USA leg of the journey is usually very good - the same can;t always be said for the USA / UK leg though.

The flight assistants have always been very friendly and helpful and on the last flight home two weeks ago the head Flight person was absolutley hysterical (in a funny way - not panic way!). Drinks are available all the time and you are activiely encouraged to get up and wander around to stretch those legs.

I've also used the chaperone scheme when my 13 yr old flew unaccompanied for the first time a few years ago. The stewardess' were great , although it did seem strange having to sign for her like a parcel when she returned.!!

There are big variations in the cost of the flights and it pays to keep checking before booking. Emails updates have been very useful for changes of flight times, visa requirements etc, although quite what happens if you don;t have internet access I'm not sure.

A carrier I would use again - its a shame that T3 is so crowded though.

Summary: A good experience at reasonable cost
