Advantages: The service

Disadvantages: Limited UK airports

Along with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic has to be one of the most widely recognised airlines in the UK, and has millions upon millions of passengers every year. Out of all of the airlines that I have flown with over the years, this is the airline that definitely provides their customers with the best customer service. When you buy a ticket, you can be assured that you are getting your money's worth. As a result of them being mainly an intertainal airline, I tend to fly with them on long haul trips, especailly when I go to Australia, as I have found that they get me there the quickest. Saying this though, they have hundreds of destinations all over the world, and you wont find a major city that they dont fly to.

Every now and again, Virgin Atlantic are compared with British Airways, and sometimes, they are very similar in the service that they provide, however one of the main differences I have come to find is definitely the price. The last time I flew with them, my ticket cost half of what it would have been if I had chosen to fly with British Airways. As a result, these two airlines are always in competition with each other over price, and therefore, always lowering there prices which makes it better for us. Just to clear up, even though the price is low, the service certainly isnt.

Unlike some other airlines, such as no frills such as Easyjet, Virgin Atlantic pay close attention to the amount of service that they give their customers. They not only goes for on board the aircraft, but also the staff on the ground at the airport. One thing that they have done recently to keep their passengers happy, is build on their aircraft, bringing in larger planes for short haul destinations, so you get the same comfort from long haul flights.

However, likes most things, this is a downside to this airline. When you book a holiday, it is rare that you fly with Virgin, unless you actually book through their website, which does make it more expensive than booking an all inclusive holiday. One final disadvantage would have to be that they dont fly out of my local airport, and if they do, it is on a rare occasion, which is quite disappointing for such a large airline. There main hubs are the usual larger airports such as Manchester and Heathrow.
