Crazy seating plan leaves no leg room (Virgin Atlantic)

Advantages: had a combination ticket with other airline (Air NZ) to cover the routes I needed

Disadvantages: average height person ends up with no space for feet on long haul flights

Flew Virgin between London and Tokyo, and Hong Kong to London. Had been looking forward to it as heard good things about this airline. Service and staff were good. But had a major disappointment about the seating and leg room. They had placed the 'box' as part of the entertainment system right under the seat in front of me in the position that I would normally put my feet. Now I am not a tall person, but had to suffer 11-12 hour flights with both my feet jammed / crammed into half of the normal space under the seat in front of me. Worse was that there was a perfectly good place to have placed that box to the side, in the curve of of the wall (was a window seat) where would have been out of the way and allowed for normal leg room. Just absolutely thoughtless and crazy positioning that I can't fathom. God knows how bigger people cope. Have made sure to avoid flying Virgin again.
