Advantages: Great flights, Friendly staff
Disadvantages: none what I can think of except they need to stock more chicken
The first contact we had with Virgin Atlantic was a few weeks before we flew, when I phoned to book our seats. I was confused; because when I asked for a seat with legroom they said you couldn?t book these in advance. I asked what can I book and I was told any other seat. I couldn?t work out what was the point of phoning to book a seat when it doesn?t really matter. Anyway, they were friendly enough and very polite, even about my stupidity. We were probably one of the few people that flew on September the 11th 2002, and our original plane was cancelled and two journeys were merged into one. We were given plenty of warning; it was only an hour later and in fact was a better time for us. Gatwick airport was quite empty compared to usual on September 11th so the Virgin Atlantic check in desks had on queues, and the staff were quick and efficient. I have never flown with Virgin before so I?m not sure if this is usual or not. Boarding was ahead of schedule, only by a few minutes, but it makes the difference. The plane was nowhere near full, so we had 3 seats next to the window to share between the both of us, useful for junk and stuff. We flew on the newer 747-400, which was only a year old. All the seats had individual TV?s with a choice of 7 films and one general channel or music. The seats were very comfortable and reclined further that many planes I have flown on before. I am 6ft1 so room is quite tight for me, but I found the 9 hours on the flight quite comfortable, with no real problems. The meal going there was quite nice for airplane food, but coming back there was a choice of Chicken, Fish or vegetable stir-fry. Of course, because of many films, nobody wanted the fish and by the time it came to me the Chicken was all gone. I choose the safer option and had the Stir-fry, but just after they served me they found a Chicken one hidden, so I quickly put my name to that. After eating 2 meals I was quite
full. My whole experience of Virgin Atlantic was excellent with no real problems. I would defiantly use them again.
