Advantages: Lots to do

Disadvantages: Busy sometimes long queues

Tips when going to the airport: Try and take a teabag, that way if you can't afford the high prices (Like me sometimes) I just ask them if I can use my tea bag in their hot water. Some are ok about it. I did that at manchester once.
Basically just beware that airports have Fast Food outlets at Restaurant prices, I'm not talking about BK but those that look similar to a cafe, they will charge alot.
There's usually a boots at UK airports doing Meal Deals.
If you are a person who likes to get away from the hectic areas around your gate, you can usually walk a few gates over and rest somewhere while waiting. If they call your flight for boarding, don't rush to the front of the queue, you're just going to be spending more time on the plane waiting around and then you'll be the one that can't wait to get off.
Just take it easy sit at the gate until the last person in the queue, that way most people have put their bags away.
In security make sure you get all your rubbish out of your pockets so you don't set the detector off.
If your in UK and you are going on an airline of another country then go find that plane at the gates, that way you don't have to keep looking at the departure screens...you can just sit there on your own, chilled out...offcourse makesure nearer the time like 20 mins before that it displays your flight at the gate just in case there is 2 but rarely there are, unless your in london.
Get a train or bus to the airport because car parks are a rip-off.
