Advantages: Fast, convenient, reasonably priced

Disadvantages: One piece of luggage

I've booked a holiday to Egypt in September, but Egyptair only flies from Heathrow. So what to do? Many people find themselves in this position, no doubt, and if they live in the Southeast, no problem. I live near Manchester, so I have several options. One option is to travel the day before the flight, stay overnight in a hotel and take its courtesy bus to the airport. If you drive, they will even keep your car in their carpark - cost £120-140. You could travel directly by train - but don't! The journey time from where I live is a little over 5 hours and the cost will be about £90-120, as a cheap return is unavailable! So, what about flying from Manchester airport? I thought that this would prove very expensive, but it is not. Flight to Heathrow, £103 from BA's online booking service - includes a £3 discount for booking online.

For convenience and speed, I think this is the best solution, and the price is excellent value compared with the other ways of getting to Heathrow.

There is only one drawback - you can only take one piece of luggage per person, but as I'm travelling on my own, that won't be a problem.
