Alicante Altet Airport (ALC) ... named El Altet, is the main airport for the regions of Alicante and Murcia in Spain. It is located within the municipality of Elx (Elche), just 9 km southwest of Alicante. El Altet opened on 1967-05-04, replacing the older airdrome La Rabassa that had served Alicante since 1936. The airport took its name from a part of the city of Elx. Alicante is the major airport on Costa Blanca, so 80% traffic is international.

Premium Review Alicante Altet Airport (ALC): Not A Bad Little Airport (285 words)

I've been flying to and from Alicante for a number of years now as my parents have a house near there and I visit them frequently. Until recently, Alicante Airport only had one terminal and was quite a dingy airport. Thankfully this has changed with the opening of Terminal 2, which is bright, airy and the terminal Easyjet mostly fly from, so the one I know best. The airport is well situated on the Costa Blanca and only a short drive to Benidorm or Calpe. As with anything Spanish, it has a tendency to be fairly noisy and screaming at one another is a must here just so you can fit in. I liked this airport - it was big and spacious and we got our bags quickly when we landed into Alicante for our holiday this year. The toilets in the baggage collection area were clean and our arrival went smoothly. When you arrive if you do not have a transfer booked there are plenty of car hire desks or a suitable taxi rank. People going to the Costa Blanca will travel to Alicante and the nearest resorts are Benidorm, Cala Finestrat, La Manga, El Campello, Alicante City to name a few. There is also a bus every hour from the airport to Alicante city and buses to nearby reports like Calpe and Altea. The bus service is called Alsa and you can ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Alicante Altet Airport (ALC): Alicante Airport - Easy to find, expanding quite a lot (437 words)

I use Alicante airport for my annual break in Spain and find it is convenient and fairly easy to use. It is situated just outside Alicante on the Costa Blanca, around 46.5km from Benidorm. It is within driving distance of Valencia, around two hours and 179km. Arrivals You would probably fly to Alicante if you were staying in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Teulada. It is popular with budget airlines such as Easyjet and Bmibaby and there are flights from many regional airports in the UK such as East Midlands, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle and Stansted to name a few. There are around ten car hire companies who ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Alicante Airport - Good facilities and good links to roads (300 words)

This is a small but rapidly growing airport - as can be seen from the amount of building work which is being carried out. On arrival, and once you have collected your luggage- the small hall contains all the car rental firms - the queues can sometimes be quite long here - especially in summer. The car hire garage is just over the road in the main parking area so is nice and simple. Once leaving the airport it is easy to get onto the main motorway - just look for the signs - due to the building work you sometimes need to take different routes. On return there are two terminals for check-in, the second of which currently seems to be used ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Alicante Altet Airport (ALC): Great Airport (315 words)

Alicante airport is growing rapidly in the number of annual passengers - mostly British tourists who are looking for a sunny destination. Looking at the summer we have had this year, I'm not surprised people are trying to escape to the sun. Alicante airport is very accessible as it is just off the motorway, which runs from Murcia to Valencia. Therefore, you can come straight out the airport onto the motorway to quickly reach your destination. Benidorm is only a 30 minute drive and Alicante city is 5-10 minutes away. The airport has two terminals for different airlines when you are checking in. Once you have checked in, you ho upstairs through ...  Read the complete review
