Alicante Airport - Good facilities and good links to roads (Alicante Altet Airport (ALC))

Advantages: Small, convenient location

Disadvantages: lots of building work currently taking place

This is a small but rapidly growing airport - as can be seen from the amount of building work which is being carried out.

On arrival, and once you have collected your luggage- the small hall contains all the car rental firms - the queues can sometimes be quite long here - especially in summer.

The car hire garage is just over the road in the main parking area so is nice and simple. Once leaving the airport it is easy to get onto the main motorway - just look for the signs - due to the building work you sometimes need to take different routes.

On return there are two terminals for check-in, the second of which currently seems to be used solely by Easy Jet. They are both very close so just go in th emain doors and look at the screens to find out which terminal you need.Once you have checked in you need to go up through security. I think they may be developing a security channel from Terminal 2 but I'm not sure how widespread its use is currently.

The tax-free shopping has expanded greatly over the past 5 years with standard duty free shops and increasing numbers of smaller niche shops, like Panama Jack and Lacoste.

I find these are still a bit pricey as are some of the gifts in the duty free shop and the small shop outside selling Spanish gifts - though they are often a little bit cheaper in here than in the main duty free shop.

Food and drink is available but I have never had anything more than a cup of coffee really so I can't really comment on its quality or price.

Overall a good small airport that is thriving.

Summary: Ideal airport , not too big and with enough facilities
