If your flight transit in any airport, the first wise thing to do is to find the next boarding gate first regardless of the amount of time you have in between. This is especially true when you transit in the Amsterdam airport.

I was there twice, both times on transit. On my first visit, my flight was slightly delayed. When I found out that the next boarding gate is only an alphabet away from where I arrived, I was a bit relax and took my own sweet time to get there. Unfortunately it was not as near as I thought that I had to literally run there to be on time. So my advice is give yourself plenty of time, it's a huge airport. The good thing is though, if you happened to have more than an hour of transit, then there's plenty of shops for you to look around.
