Advantages: Good connections, easy to get to the centre

Disadvantages: None really

Athens International Airport is a very modern one, having been built just 7 years ago in 2001. The airport is easily accessible by metro line 3 which costs about 6 euros to get into or from the centre some 20km away or by bus which is cheaper at 3.20 euros, the buses are X90 numbers and depart and arrive at Syntagma square leaving every 30 minutes in the night and every 15 minutes in the day.

I used Athens International Airport for a pretty short flight to Cyprus but it is often used as a gateway to South East Asia and the Middle East having reasonably priced flights to the two areas of the world. There are plenty of ammenities - toilets, shops, bank machines and the like as well as an unhealthy amount of those weird massage seats (have to say I'm judging them without ever having used them!)

It's really very up to date and English speakers will have no problems with messages or sign posts. Easyjet and Norwegian are the main budget airlines to service the airport and you can get some pretty nice deals. I flew with Cyprus Airways which was cheap but it's only a short hop. I'd definitely use this airport again, it's convenient and everything went very smoothly.
