Don Mueang Bangkok International Airport (DMK)Newest Review: ... with customers due to all the vouchers being given out. The main problem was that there are virtually no seats in this whole area other than in cafes, so after walking around for a long time we decided to go through security to the gate area where there were lots of seats. We recently had to spend 7 hours in Bangkok Airport due to a flight delay, and it was a nightmare. The first part of the airport is check-in which wasn't so bad - then through to the main part where all the shops and cafes are. We were given vouchers for a snack at two cafes, both of which served poor food and were overrun with customers due to all the vouchers being given out. The main problem was that there are virtually no seats in this whole area other than in cafes, so after walking around for a long time we decided to go through security to the gate area where there were lots of seats. The first sight people sometimes get when landing at Don Muang airport ? code BKK - is the strange sight of people playing golf in between the runways. This is just the first of many quirks you will either love or hate about Thailand and Bangkok. The golf course is actually owned by the Air Force which shares the airport. Depending on your taxi route to / from the runway you will see the military planes and hangers. The airport is actually due to be replaced by a new airport - Suvarnabhumi - being built to the north east of Bangkok which is due to open in 2004. Well, the Prime Minister said it would, so it must be true! Transport The airport ... Read the complete review

Bangkok International Airport is situated 25km from downtown Bangkok. It has 2 terminals which are housed within the same building. When you fly in from London, you enter via terminal 1 but in order to reclaim baggage and go through passport control you have to make your way to terminal 2. The first thing you notice as you get off the plane is the intense rush of heat. When we arrived the skies were filled with dark clouds but the swirl of heat that greeted us was still a surprise. Within 20 minutes I was soaked through. Thankfully baggage trolleys are in plentiful supply because there is about a quarter of an hour walk to baggage reclaim. ... Read the complete review

Bankok airport is a strange place! My first view as the plane came down was a golf course set within the runways; well you don’t see that at Heathrow. I began to have visions of what a golf ball might do to an aircraft landing; happily there was no impact. On the long walk from the aircraft to the terminal there were smoking rooms every 50 yards or so, to the relief of those of us addicted to the weed. The passport control & immigration desks were plentiful & our passage through them swift. The baggage reclaim was efficient & our bags were reclaimed within a reasonable time. Customs was deserted. All the sign were written in Thai & English & very ... Read the complete review

As airports go this is not bad. There are plenty of facilities especially shops. These are strung along a very long stretch so be prepared to walk. The range of goods on offer is reasonable - one speciality being packed flowers eg orchids to take home. This is a very convenient and different present and they are reasonably priced. One tip if yOU find the area near the centre crowded walk away fro it, especially to the right when I was there, and the crowds thin very quickly. There are plenty of flight boards in these areas too. The only complaint I have about this airport is that it was the place in Thailand where I was most bitten by mosquitoes. ...
