The airport of Barcelona is currently the centre of works in progress which will give it the 4th Terminal. At the moment there are 3 terminals, Terminal A and B are for both domestic and international flight, and terminal C is primarily for the shuttle to Madrid and few other internal flights.

The airport is located on the outskirts of Barcelona, in the small village of El Prats and is connected to the centre of Barcelona both by overground train, bus, and off course taxis.

Once you arrive, you will normally walk to passport control, pass it, and then to the lounge to pick up your luggage. It can be a bit confusing since Terminal A and B are connected in such a way, that you may go to both of them after passport controls. Some flights land at one terminal, but the luggage is being delivered at the other.

If you wish to pick up a taxi, you need to go to Terminal B, which is 5 min away from Terminal A and C, and car rental companies desks are also located there.

I always took a taxi or hired a car, so I cannot advise on the train service. A taxi to Barcelona is no more than 30 Euros, around 20 Pounds.

The airport is on the West of Barcelona and if you wish to go to a nice place, go to Casteldefells, which is only 5 kilometres away and has got nice beaches
