Belfast International Airport (BFS) ... Belfast in Northern Ireland. It is also known as Aldergrove, after the village of that name lying immediately to the west of the airport. Belfast International shares its runways with the Royal Air Force base RAF Aldergrove, which otherwise has its own facilities. Over 4.82 million passengers (2.1% of passengers at all UK airports) travelled through the airport in 2005 (a 1.7 million/54.1% increase over 2000). Belfast International is the 11th busiest airport in the UK in terms of passenger numbers and it is the busiest airport in Northern Ireland. It is also the second busiest airport on the island of Ireland (after Dublin Airport's 18.4 million passengers). Belfast International Airport has transatlantic flights, with scheduled flights to New York - Newark, Orlando (with two airlines), Toronto (with two airlines) and Vancouver as well as flights to many major European cities. There are chartered flights to Africa, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, the USA and many European destinations.

There is one main check in hall. Departures has several shops, and although not a brilliant selection, it has everything you would likely need. Security staff are friendly. FLYING WITH EASYJET airline from Northern Ireland to any UK and European destinations is always through Belfast International Airport. BIA is one of the major airports in the Irish region that has recently reached a major milestone in its history by having catered to 5 million passengers for the past 12 months. Currently, it is serving 41 scheduled destinations with 26 European and transatlantic, and 15 domestic flights. Comparing BIA with George Best Airport, it is unlikely the former is popular for European flights, aside for being easyJet's hub, it is also the home of Jet2, bmibaby, Continental airlines, Zoom airlines, Air Transat, Wizz Air, and Manx2. ...

A frequent bus service is provided for those travelling to and from Belfast but for others the car parking provision is excellent and arguably the most reasonable in Western Europe. The airport terminal is modern and contains a full range of amenities including many shops and restaurants. Unlike other airports I could mention there is a calm and relaxed atmosphere here with little sign of stress or anxiety. Due to a lack of pressure on finding flying slots, turn around times are quick even for aircraft delayed on-route from another airport. ...
