Coventry Airport (CVT) ... Baginton, Warwickshire, England, and about 1 km outside Coventry boundaries. Coventry airport is a main hub for Thomsonfly.com, part of the TUI Group. The airport is owned by the CAFCO-C, and is currently waiting for the results of a Public Local Inquiry to build a permanent terminal and passenger facilities to serve up to 2 million people per annum. / In February 2004 the lease was sold to TUI AG, who started scheduled flights from the airport in March 2004 under the brand Thomsonfly. The new service was controversial because it operated out of new temporary passenger facilities built without planning permission. Warwick District Council lost a court action in which it attempted to get an injunction against Thomsonfly. The result was that the service was allowed to continue. A second Public Local Inquiry to determine a planning application for a 10,000 mē permanent modern terminal for up to 2 million passengers per annum ended in July 2006 and the results are expected in the first half of 2007.

When I told my friends I was flying from Coventry airport, they joked that I would be in a shed for departures.... They were not far wrong!! Coventry airport is basically 4 warehouses of small proportions!! 1 is the checkin, then you go through to the other which is departures. For our flight recently to Barcelona with Thomsonfly our airport in the UK was at Coventry. Thomsonfly are the only passenger airline who use Coventry Airport and they do not have many flights a day departing from it as it is a very small airport. In fact I think most of the planes are in the evening as it is very close to the city centre and our flight departed in the evening and the return flight landed even later at night indeed so late that once we cleared customs and collected our baggage all of the buildings including the one cafe closed down and we had to wait for our pick up outside on the pavement. This airport is really small and the ...  Read the complete review

A trip to the airport is an exciting event, not only are you about to embark on a trip to somewhere exotic but an airport is crammed full of great shopping opportunities and people gathered from all over the world dressed in a variety of bright outfits and speaking many languages, well at Coventry airport you get none of this however I did meet a couple from Stoke in the queue at check in. What Coventry does offer though is something far more important, in the time it will have taken me to write this review you could have left your plane, passed through passport control, collected your luggage, smuggled your illegal contraband through the green channel and be ...  Read the complete review
