Advantages: Gateway to Turkey, Planes on time, Air-conditioning works

Disadvantages: A means to an end only

Dalaman airport is solely the point at which a Turkish holiday begins and ends.
Prices in the shops/bars are extortionate, but taxis outside are cheap, signposting is good and it is efficiently run - planes actually leave on time, and the air-conditioning in the terminal works. For an airport, that's fine by me.

In my humble view, anyone turning up at the airport for a good meal or to buy presents deserves all they get.

The entry visa scramble [GBP 10 or equivalent] could be better organised, but hell, your holiday is about to start, so a short wait is OK.

I have just come back from Dalaman airport. Having queued for over 1 hour to get into the departure lounge, it would have been nice to have had a bite to eat. I wasn't expecting a "good meal". But I wasn't expecting a Burger King "Whopper" meal (burger coke and fries) to cost YTL 18. That's about £7.50.
Local knowledge is always useful, but no-one, not even tourists "deserve" to get ripped off.
