Faro International Airport (FAO)Newest Review: ... is but it certainly reduced the waiting around times and got me through the airport quicker both on arrivals and departures. I thought the airport was very easy to use. In terms of getting around it, almost all of the information was in at least bilingual languages so most of the signs and directions were in English, or had graphical signs representing in a universal language what I was ... more |

I used Faro international airport last year when travelling to Portugal. It had it's plus points and its bad points. The main plus was that it was very well organised. When we landed there was virtually no waiting around at all and our bags were ready to be reclaimed and we were able to leave almost immediately. They have some advanced technology in the airport too. Rather than have my passport checked by a human being, I had a facial scan electronically to match me to my passport picture. I'm unsure how effective this is but it certainly reduced the waiting around times and got me through the airport quicker both on arrivals and departures. ... Read the complete review

Faro International Airport is the airport offering a gateway to the Algarve and is an airport that has been undergoing a large amount of changes and improvements. The airport offers a large amount of flights from and to the UK with major airlines using the airport including Easyjet, Flyglobespan and BMI to name but a few. The airport is an airport where when you land you will normally find yourself having to use buses to and from your plane with it normal for two buses to be sent to collect from each flight with the buses not comfortable but at least getting you there quickly and easily. Once in the airport you find a very spacious, clean, airy and ... Read the complete review

We flew into Faro International Airport this year after a two and a half hour flight from Humberside Airport England . Faro is situated centrally along on the Algarve coast of Portugal and so gives easy access to most of the coastal resorts . The airport is quite large and a very busy destination . As we were disembarking and being herded onto a bus to take us to the arrivals, more planes were departing and landing . There are nice gardens surrounding the airport . The views as you fly in low over the sea are quite spectacular at times and disappointing at others .The 'mud flats' look very unappealing . Unlike England smoking restrictions are only ... I have read reviews on faro airport but there have been a lot of changes we have been going to the algarve for 6 years and have seen the airport change every year the last 2 years with my wife in a wheelchair if the plane parks on the tarmac they use a special vehichle to get people in wheelchairs off the plane that is less stress for disabled people in wheelchairs the staff are very polite so dont be put off by most of the reviews that you have read here because they must have spent millions over the last 6 years to improve faro airport most of what people have said about faro airport could be said about any airport ... I recently travelled to Alvor in the Algarve and had the doubtful pleasure of going through Faro Airport. My breath was really taken away just five minutes after we landed. The toilets had a distinct aroma of p*** They looked clean but the strong smell was enough to make your eyes water. Anyway, enough of that! Faro really comes into it's own when you go back for your return flight. The toilets had a distinct aroma of Zoflora, or some equally strong floral disinfectant, which had clearly been used to cover up the other aromas. I found them by using my sense of smell as the signs in the airport were very confusing. The coach pulled up at ... Read the complete review
