Advantages: Nice atmosphere., Very clean., Polite staff.

Disadvantages: None.

Glasgow airport has a very relaxed atmosphere with a very spacious and pleasant layout.

When you fly into Glasgow the mountains around the area look very spectacular, although some of these mountains do look a little bit close as you come in to land.

Throughout the airport everything is logically laid out so it is easy to find your way around and everywhere is well sign posted. The main terminal building is on two levels with the check-in desks on the lower level.

Most of the shops are situated on the second floor where there are also a number of large areas of seating. There is a large glass fronted area where you can watch the aircraft landing and taking off with the mountains in the background.

There are coffee bars, restaurants and snack bars (including McDonalds) situated around the building and the prices in all of these are quite reasonable. There is also a good variety and choice of different foods and drinks.

In the departure lounges for the domestic flights the facilities are limited, with mostly just vending machines and small bars. In the International departure lounge there are a number of duty free shops. The staff at the airport ensure that the departure lounges do not get packed by staggering the passenger movement in a good organised way.

Outside the airport there are a taxi rank and a bus terminus, with a regular bus service into Glasgow city centre (about 12 miles). Unfortunately there is currently no train connection to the airport, with the nearest train station about 2 miles away which can be reached by bus or taxi. There are also about half a dozen car rentals firms with facilities at the airport.

Overall we found the airport a very comfortable, clean place to wait for our aircraft. The staff were very polite and helpful and there was plenty of places to eat or drink and also to do any last minute shopping.

A very pleasant airport to use.

I used to live about five minutes walk away from Glasgow airport. It is quite an attractive airport compared to Edinburgh or Prestwick. Unfortunately, I have only ever been there to see people off or pick them up (My wife won't fly)
Cheers :-)
