In case if you have read my profile, you may note that I was born and raised in Hong Kong. Having travelled around different parts of the world and hence different airports, I have to admit that we are all very proud of our airport and to me, it's simply the best. Travelling to the airport Travelling to the airport is very easy. You can go there by airport express (the train), airport buses or by taxi. If you are a business traveller, I would recommend you taking the airport express because they offer in-town check-in services. You can check in your baggage in the two train stations located in the CBDs first and continue to have your meetings in the CBDs. ...  Read the complete review

It might sound like a strange thing to say but Hong Kong airport is very beautiful. I'm a big fan of the work of the British architect Sir Norman Foster so I instantly recognised it was one of his buildings the first time I went to check in at the new HK airport. It has the high ceilings with light-maximising techniques that I recognised from Stansted, one of his other great airport designs (although in the case of Stansted it's a fabulous building but an awful airport). The old HK airport was very close to the city, so close in fact that landing could be quite scary. The new one is a different matter and is well over an hour drive from the city. It's built on ...  Read the complete review

Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport HKG: the way Airports should be (323 words)

Built on part of an island and part of reclaimed land, Hong Kong International is the way an airport should be: spacious, modern, clean and efficient. Terminal 1, where the majority of airlines arrive (except Thai, Jetstar, Air Asia, and a few others) is wide open, stretching for what seems like an eternity in each direction. ARRIVING ------------ Touching down in Hong Kong International Airport, you'll be struck by how spotless and modern it looks. The walk from the gate to immigration control is substantial but not overwhelming - there are moving walkways and toilets in between. Immigration usually moves quite fast and efficiently, and so does ...  Read the complete review

The perfect airport experience (729 words)

Chep Lap Kok International Airport I have just returned from two weeks in Hong Kong (May 2009), during which I have experienced the Chep Lap Kok International Airport for the first time. All I can say is 'wow' I am deeply impressed, although not surprised, by the sheer organisation and efficiency. This was the first time I had returned to Hong Kong, where I previously lived as a child, for many years, so the last time I used a Hong Kong airport it was the old Kai Tak, always a thrilling experience as the runway famously jutted out into the harbour and the pilot negotiated his way between the high rise buildings. It was always ...  Read the complete review

Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport HKG: World Class Hong Kong Airport (176 words)

Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport is one of the most amazing Airports that i have ever been too. I travelled to Hong Kong in December 2008 and I could find no fault with the airport. When we landed the airport was immaculate, the route we had to take was clearly sign posted and all of the staff were helpful. When flying home I would recommend that any travellors use the MTR airport express as this has an added facility of allowing you to book your luggage in at the MTR Hong Kong station. This takes all the stress and hassle of waiting in queues at the airport and allows you the time to relax and get some last minute shopping in at the large variety of ...  Read the complete review
