Advantages: Not too busy, pleasant staff

I've used this airport 3 times in the last year. It's very new and and so very bright and shiney - not the grime and tired look of many other airports. It's also not very big, and the only carriers to and from the UK are the low cost ones.

That said, on arrival, the baggage comes through quickly, and straight out to the arrivals halls with car hire etc. So from landing to leaving the airport is very quick (by UK standards). Outside is the bus and taxi stands so getting into Katowice itself is easy, but the airport is a bit out of town so it's not a 10 minute ride.

When leaving via Katowice it's very efficient. Expect the usual queue to check in for the UK flights, but each time it's been quick and efficient. And the staff are very pleasant too.

If you're early for your flight, don't rush through to departures. This is not a London airport so there is no shopping mall with 10 places to eat waiting for you. There's a coffee bar, a couple of duty free, toilets and that's it. Even before you go through there's not a lot to wander around. You can get a snack, but don't expect a fine dinning experience before your flight.

To and from your plane is via bus, so expect the usual hustle to get from the bus onto the plane, especially with those airlines that don't do allocated seating.

Overll, if you want to go to sourthern Poland, it's an efficient, functional airport.
