Despite being the largest of the Ionian islands, Kefalonia has just the one airport, situated on the south-west point of the main landmass, south of Lassi and the island's capital Argostoli. From here to Argostoli is about 20 minutes by taxi. If you're travelling on a package then mostly you will take longer because of all of the drop-offs at the various hotels along the way. Access to other resorts around the island will inevitably take much longer, due entirely to the "unsophisticated" road network. The airport was built in the early 70s and boy, doesn't it show!
