 Larnaca International Airport (LCA) ... Aεροδρόμιο Λάρνακας) (IATA: LCA, ICAO: LCLK) is an international airport located at Larnaca, Cyprus. Larnaca airport is Cyprus' main international gateway, the largest of the Republic of Cyprus' two commercial airports. It has a single passenger terminal, consisting of two large main terminal buildings, and a larger rear building housing the arrivals hall. The current airport consists of a single large apron for all aircraft. The current terminal has no boarding bridges, and all passengers are taken by bus to and from the terminal. This is to change when the new airport is completed. I have used Larnaca airport a number of times, as at one time due to my husbands job we were living in Cyprus. I can best describe Larnaca airport as a warehouse with a few slight upgrades. If you arrive early for your check in you will be hard pressed to find a seat to rest your tired bones, but you will find quite a nice little shop where you can stock up on a few sweeties for the flight, but be warned the shop is only big enough for about 3 people so don't take your whole family in to choose goodies. I've visited Larnaca airport numerous times over the past 8 years and it was improving all the time. It is small and compact and they were making a real effort to improve things. All those efforts seem to have been to no avail. Between October 2002 and April 2003 there has been a rapid deterioration in services. There now seems to be absolutely no encouragement for anybody who is less than able bodied to use the airport. ARRIVING AT LARNACA The passport control speed really depends on what flights have landed ahead of you. My visit to Larnaca airport was a few days after after the opening of the new terminal. I found the depatures check-in area to be small, very crowded and totally disorganised. CHECK-IN We arrived in good time to check-in, about two hours before flight departure, yet our desk did not open until about 45 minutes before departure. The JMC representatives did not have a clue where we were supposed to be checking in, and kept giving us contrasting information. The airport staff were even less helpful.
