Advantages: Great transport link, Close to city, not crowded

Disadvantages: Not many shops but maybe it is advantage :-)))

On my opinion London City Airport is one of the best kept London's secrets.
General opinion (and mine was the same few years back) that it is for exclusive use of business class passengers.
Although there is definitely some truth in it, this airport is definitely open to anyone.
It is rather small and offers quite a limited number of destinations but if you happen to fly to one of them I'd definitely reccomend it.

And here is why:

There is great transport link from Central London on Docklands Light Railway (25 min Bank to Airport)
There are also buses and taxis available.

Because of it's size the airpot only accomodates rather small planes. So there is never crowded check in desks, security points and huge walking distances to the gates.

My personal record is 15 min from check in to being onboard of the plane.

On arrival, luggage delivery is usually extremely quick because of the airport' size. Also, there are lots of people who travel with hand luggage only for day trips.

There real bargain fares offered sometimes on flights with Swiss, Lufthansa, VLM and others


If you after big airport expirience with all the huge shopping expirience and crowds which go with it, this airport is not for you.
I think, this airport is for someone who simply wants to get from one point to another by plane and does not want to spend any extra time in the airport.
