Nice airport experience (London City Airport (LCY))

Advantages: Good Location small check in time

Disadvantages: hardly any shops and quite expensive

London City Airport is my nearest airport to me as I live in inside of London. I have used the all other airports in London such as Luton, Gatwick and Stansted.

I used London City Airport when I was travelling to Swizterland, please note that the airport is not 24 hours as I had assumed, it opens at around 6.00am.

It is not too far too get to from the A13 and A406. If you are looking for the nearest airport to central London then choose this one as this the closest to central London unlike stansted or luton. The docklands light railway run directly to its own station London City Airport

The terminal is rather small but well run. This airport is not run by BAA so the running of the airport is different. The staff at the airport are friendly and knowledgeable.

For car parking the airport it is very expensive and worth avoided if you have to. If possible drop off if you can.

The airport has a feel of a private airport because most of the travellers are business travellers which that some of the facilties are rather expensive as compared to other airports.

As the airport is a small airport there is not the vast amount of shops there is like there is at the larger airport and also there is a limited amount of cafes to eat in as well.

The check in times are very short, some even as short as 10 minutes, but as always allow extra time as people do often wait until the last minute to check in.

The waiting area inside the terminal is like a railway station a few benches in the middle. The only flights that leave from here are short haul flights, so there is no option to fly here to anywhere far unless you wanted to change in Europe.

The flight to Paris does compare well to the Eurostar from St Pancreas because it is acutally in London close to the city and the check in times are not long neither.

In my words London City Airport is a great small airport that is really in London and not many miles away. The staff know what they are talking about and are really helpful. The check in times are great considering the security they do. If possible I would fly from there all the time if possible.
