Disadvantages: Inefficient baggage handling

The first time I used LCY a few years ago, I had no problems. However, this year I experienced some bad inefficiency.

My girlfriend and I were travelling back from Fuerteventura via Frankfurt on Hapag Lloyd and Lufthansa to LHR. Our Hapag Lloyd flight was delayed in Fuerteventura and so we missed our connection to LHR on Lufthansa.

The Hapag Lloyd staff were very helpful and got Lufthansa to rebook us on to a later Lufthansa flight to LCY, which was more convenient for us than LHR anyway. The problem was that our baggage had been cleverly checked through by Hapag Lloyd from Fuerteventura to LHR via Frankfurt (across two airlines). When we were re-routed to LCY, the Hapag Lloyd people very efficiently found our baggage in Frankfurt airport and managed to re-route it to LCY, which we didn't even see. However, when we arrived at LCY, there was no sign of our baggage, even after we waited for an hour.

We filled in a lost baggage report and set off home. About halfway home, I got a phone call from a very helpful woman at LCY who said that our baggage had arrived. So our baggage was on our flight after all, and it was the inefficiency of baggage handlers at LCY who delayed it for over an hour. This is surprising and unimpressive for such a small airport that handles relatively low volumes of baggage.
