Advantages: Lots of facilities

Disadvantages: none

I last departed from Gatwick Airport in October. I had used this Airport several times before but not for several years.

I was pleasantly surprised with the improvements they had made in the mean time. I have always thought this airport to be better laid out than Heathrow, probably because it is more modern. There are so many shops, restaurants and facilities that you won’t worry too much if your flight is delayed. Most of these are before Passport Control, so there is also plenty to do if you are meeting a delayed flight. There are two terminals, but a Monorail service connects the two. Food and drink is obviously overpriced, but this is normal for airports.

They have also improved the amount of shops in the Departure Lounge. I remember this as being the boring part of the airport on previous visits. There is a large Duty Free shop and a Dixons also selling goods Duty Free. So if you are thinking of buying something like a camera, wait until you get to the Airport.

This Airport is probably the easiest to travel to, either by rail or road, with good bus and coach services. There are several long stay car parks nearby also.

My experience of the check- in desks was very good, so really, I can not think of a bad thing to say about Gatwick.
