 ... toilet like there can be in big airports and you don't have to walk 15 miles between checkin in and reaching your gate. Everything is very compact. There aren't a huge amount of shops but I don't go on holiday to shop in the airport so I don't see that...more

I have just returned froma trip abroad and I fly from Luton Airport. Luton is most certainly not my ;local airport, in fact I had to drive 100 miles to get there but it offered the best deal in terms of flights and so I flew from there. I was very impressed with the airport. It's fairly small in comparison to it's neighbours Gatwick and Heathrow but that is what I decided made it better than them too. As this is our nearest airport we use the airport at least twice a year. It has certainly changed significantly over the past 5 years. The airport has expanded significantly, however not all changes have been for the good. I cannot comment on the quality or price of parking as we always get a lift down there and get picked up. If this option is available to you then use it. The drop off zone is right next to the airport so there is only a short walk to get to the terminal building itself. There are a reasonable amount of shops on the "non departure side" mostly book shops but there are places to get something to eat. However I would ...

Last weekend I flew to Amsterdam and I had the pleasure of flying out of Luton Airport, and I call it a pleasure because it really was!! If you want a relatively quiet airport with no queues, without the throngs of passengers you find at Heathrow/Gatwick, a few shops/restaurants and a convenient baggage reclaim and customs section then Luton Airport is the palace for you.
