Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: ?
When we went on holiday this Easter to Spain we flew from Luton. So while it is still fairly fresh in my memory let me tell you about it.
Luton airport is known as London Luton airport Luton is about 30 –40 miles from London, there is a rail route from London to Luton takes just over 30 minutes there is a shuttle bus from railway to airport takes about 5 mins.
The airport is nr M1 and M25.
We live about 35 mins from Luton and have relatives who live nearby so we left our car with rellies and they took us to airport. We have on previous occasion left our car at the airport parking facilities and found their service adequate.
We flew to Spain with easy jet, but there are a few other airlines including Ryan air monarch and Thompson that fly from Luton.
We arrived at the airport said our farewells to our relatives unloaded our suitcases, my husband found a trolley to put them on and we went in to wait. There is an information desk a couple of shop stalls a tie rack was one of them. I cannot recall the others. We went to the seating area nr the food village and bought a cup of tea and a bun to have while we were waiting for our flight to be called. The cost was quite expensive what you would expect really from rail or airports. The seating area was clean the facilities fairly modern. The seats reasonably comfortable.
I went to the loo it was clean and satisfactory. There are disabled facilities also a mums and babies area
We went to the check in desk where our luggage was checked in and taken away to put on the aeroplane we kept our hand baggage and went through to the departure lounge where our passports were checked.
There is a duty free shopping area here. We then had a short wait before we were allowed to board the plane We had to gert on a bus to take us from airport doors to plane only about 4 –5 mins I was relieved to notice our cases loading onto the plane .All in all it was an efficient service the airport was clean and modern. It did not seem massive and it did not feel crowded. Our flight was then called and we went through another security check and then we boarded the plane been greeted by the air staff. Then within a short time we were on our way to Spain.
Arrival home in Luton. Felling good and relaxed after our hols we got of the plane onto the bus then into the arrivals lounge where we waited by the conveyer belt for our suitcases oh that is such a drag at 4am and everyone’s case is similar anyway within half an hour we had our suitcases and then waited for the taxi we had ordered back tom our relatives house for our car (we thought that 4 am was unreasonable to ask relatives to come and fetch us)
We found the staff pleasant at Luton; fairly helpful we did not need much help though. Over all it was a good airport to use. I am sure we shall be happy to use it again .
