Advantages: Small, clean, many new facilities
Disadvantages: Needs more seating
As this is our nearest airport we use the airport at least twice a year. It has certainly changed significantly over the past 5 years.
The airport has expanded significantly, however not all changes have been for the good. I cannot comment on the quality or price of parking as we always get a lift down there and get picked up. If this option is available to you then use it. The drop off zone is right next to the airport so there is only a short walk to get to the terminal building itself.
There are a reasonable amount of shops on the "non departure side" mostly book shops but there are places to get something to eat. However I would recommend that you go through customs as soon as possible as there can sometimes be long queues. They do tend to get through the queue fairly rapidly as there are a lot of open positions, but as there is nothing missing in the departure lounge you might as well go through.
The selection of food is a bit limited but OK as long as you don't have too much of a delay. The other useful thing is a non fee paying cash machine which will allow you take out sterling or Euro's - so if you suddenly find you forgot to get the money out you don't need to panic.
Summary: Good small airport with reasonable facilities
