I have just returned froma trip abroad and I fly from Luton Airport. Luton is most certainly not my ;local airport, in fact I had to drive 100 miles to get there but it offered the best deal in terms of flights and so I flew from there.

I was very impressed with the airport. It's fairly small in comparison to it's neighbours Gatwick and Heathrow but that is what I decided made it better than them too. There was no pushing and shoving, hours to check in, hours through customs, hours to collect your baggage. It was quick and easy. When we landed we were out in about 15 minutes and that included collect our bags!

No problems finding a toilet like there can be in big airports and you don't have to walk 15 miles between checkin in and reaching your gate. Everything is very compact.

There aren't a huge amount of shops but I don't go on holiday to shop in the airport so I don't see that as a downside. There were coffee shops and paper shops like WH Smith both before you go through customs and after. There were also a few shops like accessorize and Boots. Everything you could possibley need. Staff were friendly and the whole atmosphere was good.

It's also extremely easy to find and sign posted from the M1. Lots of parking options too. Brilliant.
