Advantages: Efficient, Many Shops & Restaurants, Lots Of Check-In Desks, Easy, Quick

Disadvantages: Long Queues + Busy In Peak Season

Luton Airport is a small but modern airport and it has many shops despite the small sized terminal. You can mainly get easyjet flights from Luton and literally 80% of the check-in desks are for easyjet. The check-in hall is pretty large and long with all the check-in desks. The queues sometimes get very large though in peak-season so you may have to queue for ages depending on how early you get there too.

There are televisions above the check-in desks with animated things telling you what to do such as check-in, go to the terminal, go shopping, get something to eat and go to your gate number. There is an arcade as well as a few shops such as HMV in the check-in hall. There is even a marks and spencer small store to get some food.

You head up escalators to go through a quick passport control and security. The security hall is pretty large and usually only half of it is used and there is a constant movement of people. The security has always been pretty quick for me, so that's not bad. You enter the departure lounge and there are loads of shops and restaurants. There is a WHSmith immediately to the left where you can buy books, magazines, snacks and other things. There is also a duty free store, Dixons, Boots, Pret A Manger, Krispy Kreme Stall and other shops and restaurants.

The Krispy Kreme stall sells the delicious Krispy Kreme doughnuts, which is nice to have as a treat before flying! There is even a bagel stall too, which sell fresh juices. The prices are a bit expensive, as always in airports. The gate numbers are clearly signposted. You either walk one way or another and all the gates line the terminal. From Pret A Manger, you can look out onto the tarmac and see the runway as well as a few gates.

Overall, it's a great little airport and quite efficient to use. There is a huge car park outside as well as local car parks where you get a bus to the airport. There is also a drop-off zone and it's pretty easy to access from the M1 motorway. I'd not refrain from going there as it's a great little airport but it can get very busy in the departures lounge in peak season!

Thanks for reading,

Dan ©

Summary: A great little airport with many shops and restaurants, which is quick and efficient to use
