Stansted airport is located in the North east of London and is the base to some no frill airlines and charter flights to East Europe and the usual destination in the Mediterranean sea.

I visit Stansted airpot when I fly with Easyjet since I am based in the City and it is convenient for me to go there.

I normally take the train from Liverpool Street. It costs 16 Pounds one way, cheap it is not! For me this is the best way to get there. You can also take either the Nat Express bus service or the Terravision bus service from Victoria. I suggest you do not take these services at peak time, since although they claim that the journey will only take 75 minutes, some time it takes much longer.

There is a large car park at Stansted and a taxi shuttle company, which is very expensive. If you arrive late at night, it is probably better to take one of the buses I mentioned before, particularly if you are alone. A taxi to Central London may leave you up to 90 pounds out of pocket!

One thing I like about Stansted airport is that there is not much time to waste or wait for passport control when you fly back, particularly off peak. Having recently spent more than 1 hour in the queue at Heathrow, this is surely a plus!

Although to get there is surely more expensive than going to Gatwick, if you fly Easyjet, it is worth looking at the flights they have to and from Stansted, since they are normally cheaper than those from other airports.
